About Me

I’m Kelsey Shogren, PsyD, a clinical psychologist based in Berkeley, California, and a graduate of the Wright Institute. My approach to therapy is collaborative and creative. While I have a broad base of knowledge to bring to our work, you are the expert on your own experience, and we can work together to create the life that you envision.

Treating trichotillomania (hair pulling) and excoriation disorder (skin picking) is a personal and professional passion. I’ve lived with trichotillomania myself, and that experience continues to shape how I show up for this work. I know what it’s like to feel confused or isolated around these behaviors, and I bring that understanding into the therapy space. I stay closely connected to the BFRB community through conferences, clinical projects, and collaboration with others who care deeply about advancing treatment and access.

I also have extensive experience treating PTSD. I have worked with Veterans, first responders, medics, and civilians at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, Northern California VA, and the Iowa City VA. My expertise includes war trauma, combat trauma, moral injury, and sexual assault. I have a background working with women in particular and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the Women’s Clinic of the San Francisco VA.

If you're considering therapy and have questions, I'd be happy to meet—virtually or in person—to discuss how we can work together and explore next steps.
