Fidgets and Sensory Tools List

This curated list highlights tools that many of my clients have found helpful in managing body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). You’ll find fidget toys, sensory items, blockers to interrupt pulling episodes, and trackers to support awareness and progress. Each item includes a direct link so you can easily explore and try what works best for you.

The Hair Pulling/Skin Picking Cycle Handout

This handout illustrates the process of body-focused repetitive behaviors, showing how the they become reinforced through procedural memory, shame and other negative consequences. By breaking the cycle into clear stages, this resource highlights key intervention points and offers practical solutions at each step. NEW! Guided Meditations

These meditations are designed to support the daily experience of living with hair-pulling and skin-picking urges.

  • Morning Anchor helps you set intentions and prepare for success at the start of the day.

  • Riding the Waveguides you to notice and sit with urges, allowing them to pass without needing to act on them.

  • After the Storm provides space for self-compassion after you’ve already pulled, helping to ease shame and keep you moving forward.

Created in collaboration with BFRB Coach Laura Hobson, who brings both compassion and lived experience to this work. You can find all three on the free Insight Timer app—just download the app and search for BFRBe Mindful.
