Our Approach

This work focuses on helping you respond to urges differently rather than trying to eliminate them entirely.

By combining practical behavioral strategies with a deeper understanding of internal patterns, we help create more choice in moments that often feel automatic.

Over time, urges can become less disruptive, less overwhelming, and have less control over your daily life.

  • Behavioral Tools

Dr. Kelsey begins by helping you build practical tools you can use in real time.

These strategies are designed to interrupt the pulling or picking cycle, reduce the intensity of urges, and provide alternative ways for your body to regulate. For many people, this creates immediate relief and demonstrates that change is possible.

  • Internal Work

Alongside practical tools, Dr. Kelsey helps you explore what's happening beneath the surface.

This includes your relationship with urges, how you respond to yourself when they occur, and the beliefs or patterns that may keep the behavior going. As understanding replaces self-criticism, your system often becomes less reliant on the behavior as a way to regulate.

  • Integration

Lasting change happens when awareness and action work together.

As you become more aware of what's happening in the moment and learn to respond differently, automatic cycles begin to loosen and new patterns can emerge. Over time, these become skills you can continue relying on long after therapy ends.

What to Expect

Every person's experience is different.

Some people gain traction quickly and feel ready to continue independently after 8–10 weeks. Others benefit from longer-term support that allows for deeper exploration of the patterns connected to pulling or picking.

In some cases, this work can also complement therapy you are already doing with another clinician.
